Stages and Awards
In February 2006 tré became the first Swiss band to be introduced as »Next Generation« artists in »Jazz thing« magazine. A full profile, the release of their first CD »fundamental music« (double moon records) and appearances at the Stadtgarten in Cologne and Burghausen Jazz Festival followed. Next came a series of concerts in Switzerland and abroad. In 2007, to the delight of press and public alike, tré was awarded the ZKB Jazz Prize (10,000 Swiss francs). tré is recipient of the »High Priority Jazz Promotion« since 2008 from the Swiss arts council Pro Helvetia.
«The Raw and the Cooked represent a contradictory
couple, which Claude Lévi-Strauss (Mythologiques I, Le cru
et le cuit) used to describe cultural phenomena. We would
have to speak about the raw and the well-done to characterize
jazz the way the trio tré plays it. tré sublimates the
crude without losing its essence. Christian Niederer’s drum
set is also a talking drum and Bernhard Bamert and Thomas
Lüthi often roar on the trombone and tenor saxophone like
stags. And this music sweats, especially because the precise
work on the material can always be heard.»
